Metalkas Spółka Akcyjna has been operating on the international market for many years. It manufactures the highest quality safes, metal and workshop furniture, shelfs and aluminium ladders. It is a leader in the metal industry with about 550 employees, supplying over 2000 types of products to 30 European countries.
It is the only company in Europe with such a wide commercial offer of products manufactured in its own production facilities. These include, among others, safes, armoured cabinets, metal furniture (for use in staff rooms, workshops, offices), shelfs, metal cases, first aid kits, key cabinets, aluminium ladders. Metalkas runs its showrooms in Poland but also sells its products abroad through the online. Production takes place entirely in Bydgoszcz, in 3 production halls with a total usable area of 42 287 square metres2.
The story of three generations
Metalkas is an intensively developing family company with Polish capital.
The company was founded by Tadeusz Franciszek Grzenia in 1957. At the beginning, the plant had only a few employees. In 1967, a prototype of a metal case with a double bottom was created, which began a new stage in the history of Metalkas.
After the sudden death of the founder of the company, his son Tadeusz Grzenia (President of the Management Board of Metalkas until mid-2020) built a plant with an area of about 1000 sq2. m in Lisi Ogon. This allowed to outline new directions for the company’s development. Investments in machinery, expanding the range of products and expansion to new markets have contributed to the global development of the Metalkas, Bayersystem and Grzenia brands, which is confirmed by numerous certificates and awards.
In recent years, the company has completed record-breaking investments related to the development of the machine park, which from the beginning were carried out by Jacek Grzenia, President of the Management Board and Adam Grzenia, the Vice-President.
Between mid-2020 to 2022, the only shareholders and members of the management board of the company were Adam and Jacek Grzenia. At that time, a new chapter in the history of Metalkas began, related to the robotization of production processes, a significant increase in efficiency and the acquisition of large-scale online distribution channels. In 2022, Sławomir Cieślak joined the Management Board of Metalkas S.A. as Member of the Management Board for Finance.
Research and development activities are the key elements of the development strategy of Metalkas, which has been consistently implemented for several years. The company is currently implementing multi-million projects financed by the National Centre for Research and Development under the Smart Development Operational Program 2014-2020.
